How long before my number is ready to use after registration?

Setup is instant - you will receive your Free Fax to Email number as soon as you complete signup. You may then begin to receive faxes on your number immediately.

Is Free Fax to Email restricted to personal use only?

Free Fax to Email is used by both businesses and personal users. If you require extra features to your personal or business account, please take a look at the paid-for packages offered by our sister service, Crosby Fax.

Can I use it outside of the UK?

Our service is based in the UK and therefore it gives you a service number which is local to the UK. The service will receive faxes from anywhere in the world including from outside of the UK, however depending on the country from which the fax is being sent, it may be blocked by the sender's service provider.

Some telecom providers in some countries do not allow calls/faxes to be sent to 0871/0872 numbers in the UK. In order to test if this works, please send a test fax to your free fax number to indicate whether the telecom provider you are using permits use of the service. To do this, dial +44 and drop the leading zero in your fax number, for example:

+44 871 xxx xxxx

Please replace the + in the above example with your country's international area code.

How much do the calls cost to Free Fax to Email numbers?

From 1st July 2015, when someone sends a fax to your 087 fax number they will be charged 13p per minute plus their phone company's access charge. You are obliged to publish clear pricing information wherever your advertise, promote or give out your service number. For more information please see https://www.telecomscloud.com/policies-documents/non-geographic-call-charges/

Free? Really? What's the catch?

No catch, it really is free. If you like our service, we hope you might want to buy some of the upgrades we offer on our sister site, Crosby Fax, however you are under no obligation to do so and your fax number will always remain free!

We fund the running of the service using the small amount of revenue we receive each time someone sends you a fax. This pays for the hundreds of phone lines we have, the storage space for your faxes and allows us to keep adding new functionally to the service and keep it free.

Hang on... there is one catch we must tell you about: you must use your number at least once every 6 months, as if you don't we might take the number back and give it to someone else!

I want multiple fax numbers in my account. Is this possible?

Yes. However, you will need to purchase one of the paid-for packages from our sister service, Crosby Fax. This is not limited to business users. If you would like to upgrade, please click on the Upgrade tab above.

Can I change the email address my faxes go to?

Yes, simply login with your username and password and you will see your account details; you can change your email address there.

You may also add up to 5 additional email addresses to receive a copy of your faxes, too.

Can I open faxes on my mobile phone or tablet device?

Yes. Fax attachments are sent in either PDF or TIFF format so your mobile phone or tablet device will require appropriate PDF or TIFF software installed. Please refer to your device's operating instructions or documentation for further details.

Are my details kept private?

Yes, we only use your details in order to handle support requests from you and to keep a good idea of how popular this service is. If you make a support enquiry we'll need to ask for certain information to ensure that it's you we are dealing with, for your protection.

We will not disclose any of your personal information to a third party unless we are required to do so by law. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

What format can I receive my faxes in?

You will receive your faxes by email in either TIFF or PDF format. The default format is TIFF, and you can change this at any time by logging into your account. If you log into your account to download faxes manually, you have the option of downloading in either TIFF or PDF format for each and every fax.

Are my faxes secure? Can anyone else see or access them?

All faxes sent to your number are kept encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) on our servers, stored in the European Union at our data centre facility. None of our staff have access to your faxes, nor can they download any of them.

Company Directors may be required to disclose your faxes by law enforcement agencies. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

Is there any limit to the amount of faxes or pages I get?

No, there is no limit. Limiting the service only limits our customers. The only limit we have on the entire service is that you must use your number at least once every 6 months. If you don't, we might take the number back and give it to someone else.

Who runs the service?

Can I keep my current fax number?

Yes, there is a possibility. However, this is not compatible with Free Fax to Email. To bring an existing fax number to us, you will have to consider one of the paid-for packages that we offer on our sister service, Crosby Fax.

If you would prefer not to sign up to a subscription service, you may be able to divert your existing fax landline to your Free Fax to Email number using the instructions below:

For landline numbers you can divert your fax line to your new Free Fax to Email number that you've been given. To do this, check with your provider (for example BT) that you have Call Divert enabled on the line.

To enable, pickup your existing fax machine handset (or plug a phone into the line) and dial * 21 * then your fax number then #

For example, * 21 * 0871 123 4567 #

To cancel the divert, pickup and dial #21#. Using the above allows you to turn on/off the ability to send your faxes to Free Fax to Email whenever you want, and you remain in control. You can still give out your existing fax number, or begin giving out your new Free Fax to Email number, or both! Either way, faxes received will be sent to your email address and put into your account.

Please note that if you use the call divert option above, you will be charged for the diverted part of the call, which is 10p per minute plus network extras.
