Please see our freqently asked
questions below, but please note there are many more at our support site
knoweldge base at;
http://support.crosby.co.uk
How long
before my number is ready to use after registration?
Setup is instant, you will receive your free fax number as soon as you signup, it’s
ready to use right away.
Can I use it
outside of the UK?
Maybe, unfortunately some countries don't support 0871 numbers.
How much do
the calls cost to Fax to Email numbers?
10p per minute maximum from BT landlines. Other providers may vary.
Free? Really?
What's the catch?
No catch, it really is free. If you like our service, we're hoping you might
want to buy some of the upgrades we offer on this site, however you are under no
obligation to do so and your fax number will always remain free!
From each fax there is a small commission for the airtime we receive, this pays
for the hundreds of phone lines we have, the storage space for your faxes and
allows us to keep adding new functionally to the service and keeping it free.
Hang on…there is one catch we must tell you about…..you must use your number at
least once every 6 months, if you don’t we might take the number back and give
it to someone else!
Can I change
the email address my faxes go to?
Yes, simply login with your username and password and you will see your account
details; you can change your email address there.
Are my details
kept private?
Yes, we only use your details in order to handle support requests from you and
to keep a good idea of how popular this service is. If you make a support
enquiry we'll need to ask for certain information to ensure that it's you we are
dealing with, for your protection.
Are my faxes secure, can anyone else see them or access them?
All faxes sent to your number are kept encrypted using 128Bit encryption on our
servers, stored in the United
Kingdom at our data centre facility. None
our staff have access to your faxes, nor can they download any of them.
You are the only person who is able to access your faxes. The faxes are
secured using a combination of your username and password with your email
address, so if you lose your username and password you lose any faxes you
have stored in your inbox (otherwise they would be insecure)
What format can I receive my faxes in?
Incoming faxes to our fax number are sent by email as a TIF file, these are
multipage fax documents that can support hundreds of pages if required. We
are adding PDF and other formats that will be selectable in your account
settings very soon.
Is there any limit to the amount of faxes or pages I get?
No, there is no limit. Limiting the service only limits our customers.
The only limit we have on the entire service is that you must use your number at
least once every 6 months, if you don’t we might take the number back and give
it to someone else.
How reliable is the free fax service?
Free fax to email runs on the Crosby Communications network and has an uptime
record of 99.8% ensuring you receive complete and reliable service. We have a
proven track record of excellent service with major corporations in banking,
legal, healthcare and other industries, making freefax the perfect secure and
reliable solution.
Can I keep my current fax number?
Yes as follows :
For Fax Numbers with a Physical Phone Line
Assuming it’s a landline number, you can divert your fax line to your new
freefax number that you’ve been given. To do this, check with your
provider (for example BT) that you have Call Divert enabled on the line.
To enable, pickup your existing fax machine handset (or plug a phone into the
line) and dial * 21 * then your fax number then #
For example * 21 * 0871 521 1121 #
To cancel the divert, pickup and dial #21#. Using the above allows you to
turn on/off the ability to send your faxes to free fax to email whenever you
want, and you remain in control. You can still give out your existing fax
number or begin giving out your new free fax 0871 number or both!, either way
faxes received will be sent to your email address and put into your account.
Please note that if you use the call divert option above, you will be charged
for the diverted part of the call, at 10p.min from your provider.
For Fax numbers without a Physical Phone Line
If you have an existing number with another provider that does not have a
physical line in your premises and you would like to keep it, please contact our
sales team free on the contact number given and they will check if that number
can be ported.
